DON’T FORGET TO DO GOOD

Hebrews 13:16- “Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

If it was natural and easy for us to do good and to share with others, we wouldn’t need to be reminded, but our human nature is more self-centred.

When we share what we have with others in need; when we practice hospitality, feed the poor, and love each other as brothers, we are actually offering a sacrifice to God that pleases Him.
The Bible also says that when we “entertain strangers, we may entertain angels without knowing it.”(Hebrews 13:2b).

We are “commanded to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”(1 Timothy 6:18). The command is to give or share, not necessarily something material, but it could be something we DO.
“If it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”(Romans 12:8).

So, this year that has just begun, let’s break our old habits and become more elastic; let’s stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zone of doing good and sharing with others. Let’s do good, share with others and practice hospitality. Let’s be rich in good deeds; let’s encourage, show mercy, and love each other with a contagious brotherly love!
Amen!
