Attitude of Gratitude

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34

Gratitude does not come naturally to children. They have to learn to be appreciative. However, when it comes to asking for something they want, nobody needs to remind them; they demand it.

How about us, grown-ups? Are we thankful for divine goodness in our lives? Why point fingers at children when we are guilty of the same charge? We are often ungrateful for all God has done for us thus far. When times are tough, we keep petitioning God to move in our lives, but after the provision, we move on as if it was our own doing.

This verse commands us to give thanks to the Lord. God created us for His glory. Yet we tend to drift away from this truth. His love and mercies are enduring; He will never give up on us. From the moment we wake up until we go to sleep, we have plenty of reasons to thank God. Even when we face dire circumstances, remember His love never fails, and His goodness chases after us. The blessings of the Lord have no fine print attached to them.

Teach yourselves to have a life of gratefulness and enjoy God’s mercies for each new day. May God reveal to us what He has done for us. Then we will live with an attitude of gratitude. Being grateful indeed makes us cheerful. A cheerful heart has a continual feast(Proverbs 15:15). Let our lives be one continual feast as we see life through the eyes of God. As the song goes, count your blessings and name them one by one. It will surprise you what the Lord has done for you!
