Proverbs 28:26 ESV
“Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.”
Proverbs is a book about wisdom, but it isn’t about human wisdom. It holds wisdom that comes from God. Proverbs 28:26 warns us not to rely on what we think or feel because our own minds can lead us astray.
God wants us to follow His wisdom instead. His wisdom brings safety, freedom, and life. The Bible reminds us that relying on our own understanding isn’t trustworthy.
Picture going through a forest with someone who knows the trail inside and out. You won’t lose your way if you stick with them because they have been through it countless times.
The God of the universe is your creator, and He knows everything from the very beginning to the end. God always sees the bigger picture even when you cannot. When you rely on Him through prayer, reading the Bible, and seeking wise advice, you can steer clear of much heartache and trouble. Anyone who seeks God’s guidance can access His wisdom. You do not have to solve life’s challenges by yourself. The next time you feel uncertain, instead of just following your emotions, turn to God and ask for His wisdom.
Prayer: Lord, I don’t want to rely only on my own thoughts. Please give me Your wisdom and guide me on the right path. Help me trust You more than myself. Amen.
