James 4:8 – “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
A magnet is quite a powerful force. All iron particles are attracted toward it, and it takes a great deal of effort to repel the magnet’s attraction. It is God’s nature to draw all men to Himself. But it is human nature to repel God’s love and follow our fleshly pursuits. When we deny ourselves, and choose to follow God, we will draw near to Him.
In the process of moving closer to the Lord, we are changed. His light shines in all our dark places and brings out everything that’s hidden. But rather than causing us shame, the grace of God overwhelms us, wipes our sins clean and makes us whole again. If you are going through a period of darkness, reach out to God and draw closer to Him. His love will make you new again and bring you out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
Prayer: Father, I’m sorry for moving away from you. I surrender to Your unending love and draw close to You. Wash me clean and make me whole again. Help me live a life that glorifies Your Name. Amen.
