Luke 4:18: He hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind.
This scripture portion is a direct reference to Jesus. He speaks about His God-ordained mission to earth. He was sent by God, the Father, to heal those who are broken in heart, to preach deliverance to those who are held as captives in various ways in life, and recovering of sight to the blind.
Jesus was, of course, sent here on earth to demonstrate God’s love for us. His love is demonstrated in such a way that we would never feel neglected or not taken care of. More than just loving us, He was on the earth to heal every hearts that have been broken or beyond repair. When situations and/or circumstances seem to upset or worry us, He acts as a healer of our emotions. He came also to preach deliverance to the captives. Captives means being taken into custody and imprisoned. He came to say that there was freedom for such who were held captive by the devil. We have freedom and deliverance from sin because of Jesus’ death on the cross for our captivity to the devil. He restores sight to the blind. We were blindfolded, not being able to see God’s love or goodness, but with the restoration of our sonship back to God, we are now free to see and taste God’s miraculous provision of spiritual health and recovery to us.
Lift up your eyes to Jesus and accept His wholesome deliverance for you. When He delivers, He delivers us totally to enjoy His extraordinary blessings.
