Faith and Obedience

Exodus‬ ‭12:13‬ – “The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.”

The Passover is a great example of how an entire race was saved – by faith in God and obedience to His word. God gave the Israelites specific instructions on what they had do in order to be saved from the plague of death. They had to apply the blood of a lamb on their door posts and stay inside with their families while the angel of death passed over their homes. The families that believed and obeyed were spared, while all other first borns died that night.

It wasn’t just the ritual of applying the lamb’s blood that saved the Israelites. They needed to take God at His word and believe that when they obeyed, God would uphold His end of the bargain. In the New Testament, we know that Jesus is our Passover Lamb. We are saved when we believe that the blood of Christ saves us from eternal death.

But it doesn’t end there. We who are saved by faith need to live in obedience to God’s Word.
Genuine repentance will bring about a life transformation. As we live out our salvation, we must be careful to make wise choices on a daily basis. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen you as you strive to live a life that’s pleasing to God.
