2 Corinthians 8:9 – “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”
Can you imagine the richest person in the world being stripped of all his wealth, fame and glory for no fault of his? We would consider it such a pity that an innocent man was being punished for something he didn’t do. But how lightly we take the fact that the King of the universe stepped down from His throne in Heaven and was born as a lowly, helpless babe.
For the distasteful thoughts that enter our minds, His head was mauled with a thorny crown.
For the mistakes we knowingly commit, His hands were nailed.
For the dishonest paths we tread, His feet were hammered.
For the shameful things we’ve done, His body was pierced.
Jesus took our sins on Himself and died a gory death for our sake. May we never forget the sacrifice of the spotless Lamb on our behalf. But we must also remember that as the Lord was resurrected, so have we been resurrected from a life of sin. We are now washed white as snow; we’re heirs to eternal life. We’ve been given an extra lease of life. Let’s not take our salvation for granted. Ask the Lord to help you know Him more, so you can shine His glory for the rest of your life.
