Romans 8:15 NKJV

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”

Freedom – it’s what we all long for. Wars have been fought and revolutions have happened in the quest for freedom. Slaves used to be literally bound and gagged to keep them from running free. While we’re not living in the age of slavery, many of us are still under other bondages like fear and sin. But the good news is that we don’t have to remain like that.

Today’s verse is a freedom declaration – it reminds us that we are not under bondage anymore. We’re not slaves – we’re sons and daughters of the Lord Most High.

Royal children do not spend their days in the dungeon. Instead, they have unfettered access to the King and all the riches of His Kingdom. When we remind ourselves who we are in Christ, it dramatically transforms how we live our lives as well.

The Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins and secured your freedom once and for all. You don’t have to live in fear anymore. He’s broken the chains of your bondage and granted you eternal life. When you fully embrace your identity as the son/daughter of the King of kings, you will be able to tap into His grace, wisdom and strength, and live a victorious life.
