1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
The tabernacle of the Old Testament was a sacred place. Only the priests were allowed inside it, while others were restricted to the outer courts. But when Jesus took our sins on Himself and died on our behalf, the temple curtains were ripped apart, allowing everyone to freely enter God’s throne of grace.
The verses above remind us that we are now God’s tabernacle, His earthly dwelling place. It is our duty to be good stewards of the body God has given us. We take great care to keep our homes clean because we live in it. We respect the church premises because it is a place of worship. And yet, we neglect our bodies – the very place where the Holy Spirit resides.
Make a decision today, to glorify God in your body. Treat it like the temple it is. Remember that you were bought with a price on the cross. Allow the Holy Spirit to monitor what’s going inside your body and how you treat it. A combination of clean eating, nominal exercise and adequate rest will do wonders for your body, and help you do more for the glory of God.
