Romans 8:18
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Life can throw some pretty tough challenges our way. When we experience pain, disappointment, uncertainty, or hardship, it may feel like our struggles will never end. We might question why God allows certain things to happen and wonder if we’ll ever see the light at the end of the tunnel. But Romans 8:18 reminds us that our current suffering isn’t the final chapter of our story.
Paul doesn’t shy away from acknowledging that suffering is a part of life. He doesn’t suggest that following God means we’ll be free from difficulties. Instead, he encourages us to look beyond our present circumstances. The glory that God has in store for us far surpasses anything we might endure right now.
In tough seasons, we judge our lives based on what we see in front of us. But God has a much broader view. What feels overwhelming now is just a small piece of a much larger narrative that He’s crafting. Our situations may shift, but God’s promises are steadfast. The challenges we face today pale in comparison to the joy, restoration, and glory that God has promised us.
This doesn’t mean our pain is trivial. God sees every tear we shed, every prayer that feels unanswered, and every tough moment we endure. He’s right there with us, even when we can’t quite grasp what He’s up to. We can keep trusting Him, knowing that our current struggles don’t dictate our future.
So today, if you find yourself in a tough spot, keep your focus on God and hold on to hope. Remember that what you’re dealing with now is temporary, but His promises are everlasting. Your present suffering is not the conclusion of your story. There’s a greater glory waiting ahead.
