God is good

Psalm 119:68 – “You are good and do good; teach me your statutes.”

We sing it loud and clear during worship, “God is good, all the time.” We believe it to be true at that time, otherwise the words won’t escape our lips that easily. But do we still believe that statement after the music has ended? When we are faced with the trials in life – sickness, failure, financial trouble, bitter relationships… Do we still believe God is good all the time?

The Psalmist proclaims it loud and clear, “You are good, and You do good”. He sincerely believes God is good, and capable of doing only good things. Not that he didn’t undergo any trials at all. When you read the other verses in Psalm 119, you will find that the author did encounter varied struggles in his own life. Yet, he believed the words he penned, “God is good, and He does good”.

It’s easy to believe God is good when all is well. But it is during our deepest, darkest seasons that we need to believe it all the more. God is good, and He does good. Even if it appears that good things aren’t happening in your life right now, He will turn things around for you. All you need to do is believe in the goodness of God. When doubts plague your mind, ask God to teach you through His Word, just like the Psalmist did. The more you read the Bible, the more you’ll be able to overcome your struggles and understand God’s will for you. Believe in God, and trust that He will work things out for your good.
