God, our Deliverer

II Timothy 4:18:  And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom; to whom be glory for ever and ever.  Amen.

Paul is confident that the Lord will preserve and sustain him from all kinds of enemies that stood against him.  He faced so many challenges for the sake of the gospel, yet he did not tire or back out from the call that he had upon his life.  He was pretty sure that God would protect him and that he has a place made for him in the heavenly kingdom.

Paul never ran away when he was persecuted or had to face a shipwreck.  Despite the many difficulties, he never wanted to destroy the good work that God started in him.  He knew that he was called to preach the gospel to the gentiles, which the others were unwilling to do.  He was a chosen vessel of God.  He was once a destroyer of churches and God’s people, but God changed him as a messenger of peace and hope.  He had faith in God to such an extent that He thought that he will never be forsaken by God.  He was confident that the hope he had in God was sure to deliver him from all evil.  God’s scriptures say that He will put His angels in charge of us.  God’s word also says that when the enemy comes in like a flood, He will raise up a standard against him.

Trust God and put your confidence in Him.  Every battle that you are in, you are not fighting it alone.  God will strengthen you and lift you up.
