The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted, the Rock of my salvation! 2 Samuel 22:47
King David called God his rock because God was his strength and stability, support, and defence. God helped him subdue his enemies and gave him victories over them again and again. David is one of the prolific authors who used this metaphor of calling God his rock and the rock of his salvation.
There is no better time for us to cling to the fact that God is our rock and our salvation. There are an incredible number of issues taking turns all around the world. Natural disasters, wars and predictions of wars, political warfare across the country and the globe, global crisis due to climatic changes, economic fall, crisis in family due to finances and sudden loss of family members, prolonged sickness hampering our daily function, rebellious and ungodly relationships, sins red like crimson, recession and layoffs, increase in crime rate, corruption, breakdowns of the family and relationships etc., and what not.
These are the times we don’t see anything positive around us and have no hope to hold on. We will feel weak and need rest at times when we just don’t know what to do. During these stormy times, we need to hold something that is strong and steady so that we will not be shaken and moved. A firm foundation, sturdy and strong, never changing. He is God and our rock and never changes. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He delivered David and helped him win his battles. He is the same God whom we can trust and hold on to win our own battles. The God who delivered and brought David out of a horrible pit of miry clay set his feet upon a rock and established the steps. The same God can do for us today.
