God’s favoured people

Psalm 37:25:  I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.

God will never forsake the righteous.  The children of the righteous will never be deserted or abandoned.  The psalmist is writing here about the faithfulness of God in how God protects and preserves His children throughout all ages.  God does not change when we age.  He is the same and will remain so irrespective of any time frame.

Begging was not considered a good thing in Israel, though there were poor people.  God’s provision and His faithfulness towards His children are immeasurable.  He does not need us to do anything to obtain His mercy or favour.  From the day that we are made righteous with Him, He stands with us in every low and every high.  God will never abandon those who are called by His name. His word says that He will never leave us nor forsake us.  When we fight spiritual battles and think that we are done with, God says He is not done yet.  He fills us with hope and strength and gives us the courage to go on.  He makes us feel we are still loved and not abandoned.  His word also says that many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord will deliver him from all.

Yes, the Lord our God will deliver His children from all troubles.  He will surely lift them on high and add colours to their life.  He will honour them and provide their needs.
