Psalm 143:8

Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You.

Sometimes the hardest part of our day is not the decisions we make but the voices we listen to. Worry whispers. Fear speaks loudly. Doubt repeats itself over and over. In the middle of all this noise, David prayed, “Cause me to hear.” He understood that he needed God’s help to recognise His voice above everything else. David’s prayer is simple but powerful. He did not start by asking for answers, protection, or success. Instead, he first asked to hear God’s lovingkindness.

David knew that when we begin the day remembering God’s love, everything else becomes clearer. Fear becomes quieter. Anxiety becomes lighter. Our hearts are reminded that God cares for us and is already working ahead of us. When we start the morning focusing on God’s lovingkindness, we gain strength to face whatever the day holds.

Often, we wake up thinking about responsibilities, uncertainties, and challenges waiting for us. But Psalm 143:8 invites us to pause and lift our souls to God before anything else. Calling unto Him in the morning shifts our perspective. We may not receive every answer immediately, but God often guides us by placing peace in our hearts and clarity in our steps.

David also prayed, “Cause me to know the way in which I should walk.” This shows that when we trust God, He gently directs us, one step at a time. We walk with confidence, not because we know everything but because we know the One who leads us.

Prayer: Lord, help me hear Your lovingkindness this morning and guide my steps in Your perfect way.
