Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
This verse helps us address the most daunting concern most of us are going through these days. We need to understand that no incident, no circumstance, no accident, or anything can / will change the character of God. God has always been a good father and He confirms this truth when He asks one of His listeners, “Which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:9-11).
When God gives us something, it is out of His goodness. The reason behind it is always good. The timing, the method or the form of the gift is always good. Everything that God gives or allows into our lives is designed for our good (Romans 8:28). Even though sometimes things appear to be bad (Joseph’s life story), we can be sure that it will work out to be good for us eventually.
Also, the Bible tell us that God loads us daily with benefits (Psalms 68:19) purely out of His goodness. Are we able to identify those gifts? Let’s count our blessings and find His goodness in our daily lives…our family, friends, health, providence etc. Let’s use our resources and gifts to serve one another especially in these days (1 Peter 4:10). The gifts we share don’t always have to be materialistic. They could as well be things like companionship, comfort, advice etc.
