My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.
Psalms 62:5
Everyone struggles, whether it is an unexpected challenge involving our health and finances, or simply getting up every morning, paying bills, and trying to squeeze in some time to exercise or it can simply be an unanswered prayer. We are all trying to balance between our expectations and the outcomes and somewhere on those lines our hearts grow bitter.
So what can one do? How does one balance between expectations and outcomes? Promises evoke expectations, we all are aware of that. So here’s what we all need to know, God understands our heart. The Bible tells us so much about God’s promises and how God loves to promise. He loves to give them, He loves to fulfill them. He loves to surprise us and lavish them on us. What a mighty inheritance of hope we have in Christ! Yet many times God chooses to give promises and call us into a new things in the middle of a dry spell or barren wasteland.
Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters to always check in whom we place our trust and faith. The world is full of false promises and deception. Remember that, Abraham was called a man of faith for this every reason. It was faith that made him the father of many nations. Psalmist David is another example of how faith and expectations in God can bring the Goliath down in our lives. May our souls wait silently in the Lord, as we place our expectations in Him alone, for He is faithful!
