Psalm 91:7-8 “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.”

In this verse, we can read a promise of God’s protective care over His children. Despite the troublesome world surrounding us, the psalmist declares that God’s shield will safeguard us from all harm. Even though we witness the consequences of the wicked, we will forever remain untouched because of this promise.

The fact that the psalmist mentions that “thousands falling at one’s side and ten thousand at one’s right hand” highlights the fact that there are dangers and perils abound in the world. Yet, in the midst of it all, God’s promise of protection stands firm. His shield blocks every arrow aimed at His children, ensuring our safety amidst the chaos.

This assurance is not based on human strength but on the unwavering divine faithfulness of God. As believers, we can take comfort in knowing that, no matter the circumstances, God remains our fortress and protector. Even as we witness the consequences of evil, we can trust in His righteous judgment.

Today, let’s start our day with faith in God and His promise for us that no matter what God will protect us. Though we may see the wickedness of the world, let us trust in God’s protection and righteous judgment. As we are meditating during this holy week, let us be reminded that the God who loves us so dearly that He sacrificed Himself to pay the price of our sins; He is the same God who is with us today as our personal protector, the Holy Spirit.
