Wisdom & Health

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones. Proverbs 3:7-8

The world recognizes that wisdom is an important virtue. But few realize that godly wisdom is critical to our success in life.
In our day-to-day activities, we do a lot of things. We must have a discipline of prayer, asking, looking to God, and submitting to His will. Sometimes, prayerlessness and habitual sin can stop us from living the life He would like to see.

For example, we recognize an infected tree from the outside. If we remove the bark, it recovers. But if a tree gets rotten from the inside due to worms or insects—especially when it’s a sapling—it will lead to certain death. A similar thing happens with sin. Upon entering, it starts to get into our nature and our virtues and becomes detrimental. We may be coming into the presence of God, but we’re not spending time with Him. Repenting, but again getting back to our sinful ways. This starts to weaken us; it starts to take away our good virtues; reflect on our health and we become something that God doesn’t want us to be.

Thus, we need to get away from it. However, with our strength, it is not possible. For a momentary season, we might be able to control ourselves. But with the help of God, we can be victorious. And not just asking God, but fearing God. That’s very important. Not like fearing somebody who will punish us. But knowing that He is our Heavenly Father and that He loves us. He doesn’t want His children to do something that is against His nature. Thus, we need to be in the life of worship, continually repenting, and coming back to Him. In this way, we will be spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy. This will reflect in our flesh and bones. Amen.
