Our Good Shepherd

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:2

Psalm 23, the psalm of David, is one of the best-known and most recited Psalms ever. David portrays the Lord as his Shepherd King, who leads His people through the most suitable paths, exhaustively aware of everything concerning His sheep. Having been a shepherd himself, David could comprehend how the Lord tended His sheep.

Our nature is like that of sheep lacking discernment and having no sense of direction. Left to ourselves, we tend to choose the wrong way out, wandering off into unsafe territory. If it wasn’t for our Shepherd, we would be lost. He leaves the ninety-nine sheep behind to find the lost one. Our Shepherd lays down His life for us and takes care of us. Nobody else in the world could claim to do that for us. He knows what is best for us. Green pastures are what we feast on and rest on; still waters quench our thirst. What a dream life! Jesus, our Shepherd, guides us, protects us, and provides and cares for us. He carries us on His shoulders.

Who is your shepherd? What do these pastures and waters look like for you?
Today, make the choice to follow your Shepherd, Jesus Christ and live an abundant life. You will lead a life filled with joy and satisfaction as God guides you with His eye upon you(Psalm 32:8).
