Gratitude is the Attitude

1 Chronicles 16:8  Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!

God blesses those who have an attitude of gratitude!

It is a simple principle that can make a world of difference. It doesn’t cost a thing, it hardly takes a few seconds, and honestly, grumbling won’t change any situation.

In fact ingratitude is sin!

Remember how God saved the Israelites from Pharaoh and his army? It was spectacular, wasn’t it? The very imagery of the path through the Red Sea gives us goosebumps.

Yet, the Israelites were prone to grumbling.

They took 40 years to reach the promise land because they weren’t thankful for God’s miraculous deliverance. It was a journey that should not have taken them more than 40 days.

When they grumbled against Moses for delivering them from slavery and giving them manna to eat in the wilderness, the Lord sent poisonous snakes to wipe them out.

They even went so far as to say to Moses, “Isn’t it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness?” – Numbers 16:13

They actually called Egypt the land flowing with milk and honey. Such was the measure of their ingratitude.

But the Lord was always merciful to them. Though He wanted to destroy them for their ingratitude on many occasions, He always gave them a way out.

That is the mercy of our God. We can be ungrateful and seek God’s mercy or we can be grateful and receive abundant blessings from Him.

The choice is ours.
