Romans 15:5-6 – “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
People tend to be enthralled when they hear a huge choir singing in harmony. The choir may contain over a hundred people, with each person having a different voice and accent. Some have low voices, while others are high-pitched. Yet, there’s a part in the choir for each of them. And when they sing their individual parts in harmony with the rest of the choir, the result is nothing short of amazing.
Today’s verses reiterate the same thing. We are asked to live in harmony with each other, so we may glorify God. God is not pleased when there is gossip, hatred, bitterness, unforgiveness, backbiting, and unpleasant feelings between His children. Yes, each of us is drastically different from the others, and we have our own weaknesses. But that should not hinder us from doing our part, and remaining in harmony with others in the Kingdom of God.
Prayer: Lord, help us look beyond the things that divide us, and work in harmony to glorify Your Name. Teach us to do our individual duties well, so together we can do wonders for Your Kingdom.
