Christian friendships

Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4‬:‭9-10‬ – “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

Most of us have felt lonely at some point of time or the other. While it is good to be alone for prayer and personal reflection, the negative feeling of loneliness is rarely a good thing. God does not want us to feel lonely. He created us for love, friendships, and community – with Him, and with others. If we don’t have such community, we are seriously missing out on something good.

The best place to find good community is within the local church. While you can have a good set of friends in your neighborhood or at work, friends in the church are special because you share a common love for Christ. The best way to find a friend is to be one. Find out what your talents are and see how you can use them to serve in and through your local church.

When you join a team in the church, you will find like-minded people who have similar gifts and talents as you. As you spend time serving God together, you will learn more about those in your team. Take every opportunity to be a blessing to someone else, and soon you will be surrounded with good Christian friends. These friends will be there for you when you feel lonely, and they’ll lift you up (physically and in prayer) every time you fall. Go be a friend to someone today!
