Psalm 51:17

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart- these, O God, You will not despise.”

Psalm 51:17–19 is the final section of Psalm 51, which describes that God does not want sacrifices when we sin. He accepts the heart of repentance, a broken spirit, and a contrite heart. Isaiah reflects that the Lord was extremely tired of false sacrifices. He refused to accept them. Instead, he sought a personal relationship with his people, and he would cleanse their sins.

David could have offered God a thousand sacrifices, but he knew God looked for a broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart.

Those who have the desire to be forgiven by God are willing to do anything and everything without resentment. When we seek God, we need to cease doing things our way and learn God’s way instead.

We can do all we want, but if the heart is unrepented, God will never accept our sacrifices. When we seek His forgiveness, we must be willing to repent and walk in His ways, which are not ours.

Jesus taught us the importance of having a personal relationship with God. If we don’t build and understand our relationship with God and offer sacrifices with a different mindset, God will definitely despise them. When the world looks on the outside, our God will look into our hearts.

Let us be willing to repent and seek him every single day.
