Psalm 37:23-24
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.
Who is the good man in Psalm 37? It’s not the one who never stumbles. Rather, it’s the one who surrenders. The one who says, “God, lead me.”
That’s you.
You are not good because of your perfection. Instead, you are good because you said “yes” to the One who is perfect. You invited Him into your journey. And that choice you made to walk with Him is what sets you apart.
Therefore, there is peace in knowing your steps are ordered by the Lord. You’re not wandering aimlessly, even when it doesn’t make sense to you or when you face difficulties or delays. Instead, you are being led by the Lord.
Moreover, God delights in your way. He isn’t just watching from a distance. In fact, He rejoices in your journey. Every act of obedience brings Him joy. Each time you choose truth over comfort, or grace over resentment, you reflect His heart.
However, we all fall, and it isn’t surprising to God. Notice the words in the verse: “Though he fall”, not “if.” While falling is part of walking, it isn’t the end of the process. God doesn’t let you stay cast down. Instead, He holds you. He helps you rise again.
In truth, you’re not falling apart, but you’re falling into His hands. Strong hands. Steady hands. The same hands that uphold the world now uphold you.
So, keep walking. Keep trusting. Even when the road feels steep or the steps feel shaky. The One who leads you will never leave you. He sees. He knows. Above all, He delights in you.
Therefore, you’re not alone. You’re held by His hand.
