Holding Fast to Our Confession

Hebrews 4:14 NKJV

“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.”

Jesus Christ, our great High Priest, is unlike any other. He has not only offered the ultimate sacrifice for our sins but also passed through the heavens and is seated at the right hand of God (Hebrews 10:12). This truth reminds us that our Savior is exalted, powerful, and ever-present, interceding for us (Romans 8:34).

The role of a high priest was to mediate between God and His people, offering sacrifices for sin. But Jesus, as the ultimate High Priest, offered Himself once and for all (Hebrews 7:27). He tore the veil that separated us from God, granting us direct access to the throne of grace (Hebrews 10:19-20).

In times of trials, doubts, or persecution, we are reminded that Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33). “Let us hold fast our confession” is a call to unwavering faith in Christ. Holding fast to our confession means standing firm in our belief that Jesus is Lord, our Redeemer, and the One who sustains us.

Charles Spurgeon wrote, “The weakest faith shall save the weakest saint, but we must hold fast to our confidence in Christ.” We are encouraged not to waver but to cling tightly to the hope and assurance we have in the Lord, knowing that He is faithful to keep His promises (Hebrews 10:23).
