Psalm 34:10
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.
We live in a world that believes money can buy anything and solve most of our problems. Yet this notion could not be further from the truth. Recent wars, and of course the COVID-19 pandemic, have revealed that money is powerless against life’s deepest struggles. In fact, many who trusted in wealth as their source of power and prestige were ultimately brought to their knees, proving that all worldly possessions are only temporary and without guarantee.
Today’s verse echoes this truth in a powerful way. The lion symbolizes strength, aggression, power, and dominion. Known as the king of the jungle, and rightly so, the lion represents unmatched authority and fearlessness. Yet even this mighty creature, with all its power, is not immune to hunger and need. This imagery reminds us that human strength and worldly power are limited, but those who seek the Lord will never lack what is truly good.
So, does this mean that crises and hardships will never affect the children of God? Absolutely not! What it does mean is that, regardless of the tumult around us, God will supply our daily needs and strengthen our faith in the process. It means our dependency will shift from the things of this world to Him alone. And it means that, despite everything happening around us, there will be a superior kind of peace within us, a peace that only He can give.
May today’s verse encourage you to rethink your priorities. Place your faith in God and trust Him above the promises of worldly success. For in Him alone lies true strength, lasting peace, and eternal security.
