Strengthened Through Peace

Psalm 29:11

The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.

Strength is a term often misunderstood. Modern cinema has played a role in shaping this misconception, frequently portraying heroes as figures of immense muscular power, capable of defeating anyone or anything through sheer physical force. As a result, strength is commonly equated with physical ability alone. But strength is also resilience – the capacity to endure pain, recover from setbacks and failures, and hold on when all hope is lost.

This is the kind of strength the Holy Bible speaks of. The strength to carry on with faith when faced with adversities. It is not born of human effort alone but is a blessing from the Lord. The opening words of today’s verse affirm that it is God Himself who grants us this strength, enabling us to endure trials and remain steadfast in our faith.

The second part of the verse speaks of peace. In today’s world, peace is often undervalued. People who choose to hold their peace during difficult times are frequently misunderstood and regarded as cowardly or weak.

Yet the Bible teaches us that peace is a precious blessing from God. In ancient times, emperors and warriors fought for peace, often sacrificing their lives in the process. But through Christ, we receive peace freely as a gift of God’s grace.

You may feel broken in some areas, lacking strength and peace, but do not give up. The Lord promises His peace that will provide the strength and courage you need to remain calm even when chaos surrounds you. All that is required now is to trust Him completely, knowing He will sustain you through it all.
