Hope and Pray

Romans 12:12 – “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

Life does not always turn out the way we expect. We face a combination of mountains and valleys over the years. After you undertake a hard climb up a mountain, you rest a while and enjoy the view. But soon you might have to begin your descent into a deep, dark valley. All the ups and downs of life might seem discouraging, but it doesn’t have to be that way. The Lord walks with you, every step of the way – you are never alone.

Today’s verse outlines three key elements that can help us navigate our journey with joy – hope, patience and prayer. As long as we live, we have hope, because Christ in us is the hope of glory. When you feel down and discouraged, put your hope in the Lord. Remain patient through your affliction and you will see the deliverance of the Lord.

While you’re waiting patiently and hoping for your trials to end, do not forget to pray. Prayer will strengthen your faith in the Lord. The time you spend in His presence will fortify you, and grant you the courage you need to keep pressing on. Whatever you may be going through today, take it to the Lord in prayer and leave it there. In return, God will grant you the grace you need to keep moving on, one step at a time.
