Romans 5:5 “ Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90 when Isaac was born. It is that age when biologically women cannot bear a child. But the God we serve is and has always been a miracle worker and hope giver to those who are without hope.
In Gen 17:1 onwards we read that the Lord appeared to Abraham when he was 99 years old and spoke about His promise to make him the father of many nations and bless him and Sarah with a son whom they would call Isaac. However, it was not the first time God spoke to him about his heir. In fact, God promised him a son when he was way younger and childless – long before Sarah conceived. Abraham believed it which was credited to him as righteousness.
His hope to have a son never died because God promised him and he knew that God’s promises never fail. We too need to have hope that does not waver depending on the circumstances or our longevity. It can remain intact by acknowledging the love that has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit that is in us.
So, whatever God has promised to each one of us shall take place in His time as long as we hold on to the hope that comes from the love of the Father.
