Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9

Some of us find it easy to move away from a conflict and keep the peace, while some of us simply can’t avoid diving into a conflict. As they read the verse of the day, the peacekeepers may find a reason to smile but hold on. There is a difference between a peacekeeper and a peacemaker. Peacekeepers avoid doing anything controversial, but peacemakers are actively pursuing peace. Biblically, it represents those actively trying to reconcile people to God and one another.

To be a peacemaker, you first need to surrender to Jesus and receive the peace that surpasses all understanding to guard your hearts and minds. Only when you are peaceful can you help others find peace.

As a peacekeeper, you will have to involve yourself in conflicts. But not all battles are yours. You need God’s wisdom to understand what your role is in bringing peace. Seek God’s wisdom. Seek His kingdom in a troubled situation. Ask for His grace to endure and advice. Be gentle; be patient, resolute to the truth, and most importantly, let all that you do, be done in love.

Every believer needs to have this character of being a biblical peacemaker. Let our peace and attitude reflect into the dark corners of our pre-Christian brothers and sisters, so we are called the sons of God and bring glory to our Heavenly Father. Amen.
