Let your light shine

Matthew 5:16 – “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

You cannot be exposed to the light and not have it shine on you. Ever since we’ve come in contact with the Light of the world, we have a little bit of His light shining in us. But do we let it stay that way? What if we let that little light in us shine forth, showing somebody else the way?

There are two ways to dispel the darkness in the world: by being the light or by being the mirror that reflects it. We, who have experienced the love of God, have a responsibility to pass it on to others who haven’t experienced it yet. When Jesus took over our lives, we were changed, transformed and made new. When others see the transformation in our words and behaviour, they will know that it’s the work of God.

A lamp does not burn on its own; it needs fuel. A mirror does not shine light on its own; it needs a light source. In order to shine our light into the darkness, we need the fuel of God’s Word. We need to be in touch with our Light source. When we are consistent in our walk with Christ, He will shine through us and show others His glory.

There are many lost souls wandering in the darkness of the world. Let us be a little light showing them the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
