Lifestyle of Victory

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. 1 John 5:4 (ESV)

Children are expected to follow at least in some way after their parents. It is the same way with those who are born of God. This verse says that if we are born of God, we will overcome the world.
How do we overcome by faith? 1 John 5:5 says, he who overcomes the world is the one who believes that Jesus Christ is the son of God.

Abiding and trusting in Jesus Christ is a life of faith that overcomes. It’s a life that overcomes the pressures and temptations of the world. We need to know Jesus more than a fact or information but also as food for our life. Eventually, this will result in Jesus Christ filling our souls wholly. The temptations of this world will no longer have power over such a soul. We overcome because of who we are in Jesus.

In what ways can we be ‘world overcomers’ in Jesus Christ?
Firstly, Jesus said- “in the world, you will have tribulation but be of good cheer I have overcome the world“ (John 16:33).
Secondly, those who grow in their walk with Jesus have overcome the wicked one (1 John 2:14). They have a special place in the world to come, as Jesus promised in Rev 3:21 – “to him who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on my throne as I also overcame and sat down with my father on his throne”.
Finally, we overcome the enemy’s accusations, deceptions and violence by the blood of Jesus, the word of our testimony and loving not our lives unto death (Rev 12:11).

Jesus Christ is the complete winner; He has overcome everything. Let us live our lives in Him for a lifestyle of victory!
