Living by the rivers

Psalm 1:3:  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

A person who loves the Lord and meditates on His word will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.  Trees that are there by the river side seem evergreen and are fruitful.  They continuously are nourished by the rivers and are deep rooted.  They bring forth good quality fruits.  Whatever such a person, who is nourished by God’s word, does will be blessed.  Such kind of a man or a woman will always be prosperous in whatever they put their hands into.

We are supposed to be bearing fruits in our life as and when we are expected to bear.  A tree that is planted by the river side bears it’s fruit in its season.  It keeps up the expectation and hope that people or the farmer have in it.  God has similar expectations from us.  He expects us to be patient, hopeful, trustworthy, to be gentle, kind, etc.  Unless a tree’s root is moist and healthy, it cannot bear fruit.  In the same way, unless we spend time with God and be nourished through the Holy Spirit, we cannot bear fruits in our life.  We cannot be blessed or be prosperous in what we do if we fail to meditate and/or choose to live by the river of the Holy Ghost.

In order for the work of our hands to be established and for us to be prosperous, it makes sense to depend on our strength from God.  As long as we are rooted and grounded in faith and learn God’s word, we cannot bear fruit and also our leaves might continue to wither.  In other words, we might not sustain the blessedness long term if we do not live by the rivers.  So, choose to live with God and sustain the blessings that come your way.
