Love and Justice

Psalm 89:14 NKJV

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face.”

Judges are known to be impartial to the emotions, feelings, and guesswork associated with a case in their courts. They ideally provide justice based on the facts of the case and the evidence presented before them. When we think of God as a righteous Judge, we can imagine Him sitting on the throne and impartially judging right and wrong. Thankfully, that’s not the only picture we have of Him because that would mean we are utterly condemned.

Our God is also merciful and kind. While the facts of our life and our behavior may condemn us as unrighteous, we have been saved by His grace and mercy. The truth is that the Lord Jesus Christ took on our unrighteousness on the cross and clothed us with His righteousness. We are now washed clean by His blood and presented faultless before the Father.

Now as God’s sons and daughters, we can boldly approach Him at any time with any matter that’s troubling us. We know that our God is for us not against us. If you’re going through a situation where someone has acted unfairly towards you, take it to the Lord in prayer. Be assured that the righteous Judge is also your loving Father. He will uncover the truth and bring about justice for you.
