Love Beyond Our Failures

Psalm 86:5

For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

God is good – not because of how immeasurably He blesses us, but because goodness is part of who He is. Everything about Him is good, and whatever He does flows from His goodness. Even when we cannot understand what God is doing in our lives, we can still trust Him because we know He is good, and approach Him without fear.

We can rest in the comforting truth that God is always ready to forgive us. Sometimes, even after we confess our sin, we find it hard to forgive ourselves. At times, our past mistakes weigh heavily on us, and we wonder, “How can God offer us forgiveness after our actions?” Today’s verse reminds us that God’s heart is full of forgiveness and is always ready to forgive. He does not turn us away when we seek Him with a repentant heart. As we bring our failures to Him, He meets us with forgiveness, grace, and love.

God is rich in mercy because of His great love. He sees our weaknesses and failures, yet He does not turn away from us. Instead, He responds with compassion and shows us mercy we do not deserve. His mercy never runs out. We may wonder if we have failed Him too many times, but He never says, “I have forgiven you enough.” His mercy reaches far beyond our mistakes and failures. It is greater than our weaknesses, our past, every place we have fallen, and our sin.

Let us therefore approach God with confidence, trust His goodness, receive His forgiveness, and rest in His mercy.
