“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90 was written by Moses and he, more than anyone else, understood the value of time. Born a Hebrew slave and raised as an Egyptian prince, he was then a shepherd for 40 years before he led the Israelites out of slavery and into the Promised Land. Moses’ life spanned about 120 years and most of it wasn’t very productive. But God ultimately used Moses for His glorious purpose. In today’s verse, we see Moses essentially asking God to help us make every day count. Let that be our prayer too.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve wasted away years of your life. God has a way of redeeming and restoring your lost years (Joel 2:25). Nothing that’s happened in your life will ever be wasted. Trust the Lord and ask Him to help you make the most of today. Pray over your day and commit your plans into His capable hands.
If you’re already thinking about the number of challenges you have to face today, take a minute to pause and thank God for the gift of life. The One who’s given you breath will also give you the wisdom, grace, and strength you need to conquer whatever is on your plate today.
