Mission: Unbelievable

Luke 1:49-50 – For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.

Beautiful young teenage Mary was filled with awe at the impossible miracle she was witnessing! She burst into a prayer song exalting the Most High God for all the things He had done for her. Unexpected, impossible, improbable, surprising, unbelievable, unexplainable, are just a few words that could have crossed her mind, while she was processing and bearing in her virgin body, “the most” important act of God for all humankind.

God the Creator had chosen her to be the mother of the Savior of the world. She realized what an amazing privilege that was – her willingness and her obedience lead to something never heard of before: – Our dear Jesus had been conceived by the Holy Spirit of the Almighty God.

He who would bear the name ABOVE ALL names!

Jesus whose mercy, love, compassion, never ends, and that extends from generation to generation, had been fearfully and wonderfully made, by the mighty acts of His Father.

And wise – young – pregnant Mary, recognized The One who needed to be glorified, when she sang: “My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” (Luke 1:46-47).

So we respect Mary for her courage and obedience, and yes, she was blessed among all women for carrying in her womb Christ the Savior.

But we also follow her attitude as she recognized that the Glory goes to God almighty, and our spirit rejoices in God our Savior. Amen!
