No longer under the law

Galatians 4:4-5 – “God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.”

Did you know that under the Jewish Law, there were actually 613 commandments that had to be met?  If one of the commandments were infringed, the person was in big trouble.  And the only way to get the people’s sins forgiven, was to offer the blood of a perfect animal, without any blemish, on a very specific day, for the sacrifice to be accepted, and the sins of the people or person forgiven.  They were under the law.

Jesus was born under this context, under the law, although He was God.  And our dear Jesus offered Himself as the Perfect Sacrifice for us, to attone for our sins, so that we would be freed from the law, and would be accepted into the family of God, adopted as sons and daughters, through His precious blood.

“He was born of a woman, born under law, but he lived separate from sinners though identified with them.” (Mc Laren). Jesus was not a sinner, there was no blemish in Him, He was the perfect lamb of God, born of a virgin woman, God and Man, perfect in every way, born to die by choice – through His incomprehensible love for each one of us, sinners.

How blessed are we? What incredible Gift did you and I receive from God the Father, Who sent His only Son, that we might be accepted, adopted and grafted into His family.

Thank You Father! Thank You Jesus! Thank You because we are no longer under the law, but under Your Grace! Hallelujah! Amen!
