Proverbs 15:8
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.
What is prayer? It is an honest conversation with God, with no veil over our hearts. Worship, confession, meditating on His Word, intercession, tears, and even silence are integral components of prayer. The Lord’s eyes are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry (Psalms 34:15 NIV). Since we know He loves and hears us, we can run to God’s presence boldly and confidently.
Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Therefore, we must infuse our prayers with faith. A surrendered prayer will always be centering around: “Yet not my will, but Your will be done”. We can ASK what we desire, but we must SEEK His will and align our desires with it. Then, we must KNOCK to receive it from His hands.
But sin separates us from God and blocks the answer from Him (Isaiah 59:2). We will not receive anything from God if we are double-minded (James 1:6-7). Therefore, let us repent of all our sins and unbelief, and go to Him with a humble, childlike faith. He delights in genuine prayers. When He speaks, His guidance will include encouragement, correction, redirection, and discipline. Even in His apparent silence, there is almighty power. He is trustworthy!
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (James 5:16 NIV). Therefore, fight all your battles on your knees. Make prayer your first line of defence and not your last resort. Be persistent, pray until something happens, and seek God’s will and glory. Your prayers can make a dent in the kingdom of our enemy. Yes, your prayers can make an eternal impact!
The best prayer we can say today is: Lord, teach me to pray. Because our God is limitless, let us think, believe and pray BIG!
