Our role in God’s mission

“Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.”
Psalms 41:1-2

The Bible is the only book where the author is in love with the reader and we see how His word covers all aspects of human life, joy- sadness, health-sickness, wealth-poverty. The Bible is not only a book for believers, but for everyone. We know that God created us and He desires to see everyone valued as His children.

Many people have still not experienced this affirmation. It could be our very own fellow believers who are fading away or someone at work who have not received the gospel as yet. In a world that is so consuming, sometimes we tend to think in terms of “bigger and better.” But is that how God thinks? God’s Big Heart for the least is very evident in the Bible and He wants to change our perspective to realize that the least doesn’t mean the last. God indeed has a big heart and His big heart values everyone; including people and places we might consider to be small and out of the way.

Jesus made it clear in Matthew 25, that He wants us to value the least amongst us and those who follow Jesus will pursue this all their lives. Several other verses from the Bible talk about how we are called to advocate for the poor, the needy, be the voice of the ones who cannot speak for themselves. We are called to replicate what Jesus did for us, when He took our place, for the Lord is with those who share His heart and vision.
