Luke 11:9
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Sandy would look forward to noon every day. That was when she would receive daily updates from the doctor in charge on her little girl who was in the ICU battling for life. “Only a miracle can save her,” is what the doctors said. She had resolved to persistently storm heaven petitioning the Lord. She knew she could submit her requests directly to the Lord. While the reports showed no significant recovery, all she knew was this-the Word says, ask and it shall be given to you. Ask and keep on asking. For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives. She asked the Lord for her daughter’s healing, sought for direction on what to pray about and persistently knocked on Heaven’s door for the Lord to answer.
“Faith asks, hope seeks and love knocks.”
Charles Spurgeon
Spurgeon said, “Faith asks, hope seeks and love knocks.” This verse seems very simple to read and to understand. But most importantly, a Christian life is a life of faith which means it requires action. The intensity of the truth this verse carries is directly proportional to the severity of the situation. However, a deeper truth hidden in here is the word knock. If a family member is in a closed room and we need to speak to them, we knock on the door. Do we just knock once? Or do we give up after knocking a few times? Do we expect the door not to be opened?
Therefore, this is the attitude the Lord expects from us when we approach Him in prayer. That we would ask in faith, we would seek in hope and we would persistently knock in love, knowing that He is faithful to answer!
