Rest in the Lord

John 8:11: She said, No man Lord, and Jesus said unto her, neither do I condemn thee; go and sin no more.

This is the verse about a woman who was caught in adultery. She was condemned and caught in the act and brought to Jesus for further condemnation and with doing her off from the society.  Jesus never condemned her.  He forgave her and told her to sin no more.

This is the God whom we serve. The God who never condemns or holds our sins against us.  It was the agape love that Jesus had for this lady.  She never deserved any kind act of forgiveness or acceptance.  According to the law of Moses, she was supposed to be stoned to death.  When the onlookers were waiting for the outcome of the judgment by Jesus upon her, the love and compassion of Jesus forgave her.  She went back accepted by Jesus.  It is sin that separates us from God.  Sin condemns us and says there is no hope.   Sin makes us feel guilty and ashamed of ourselves, but the love of Jesus draws us near to Him.

God does not keep a record of our sins. Once He forgives us, we are forgiven just like how the prodigal son was forgiven and accepted back at his father’s house.  The prodigal son was never condemned.  The lady here in the scripture was not condemned neither was the Samaritan lady.  Let us make a dedicated and a conscious effort to not go back to the sins that once held us but live the life of forgiveness that Jesus gives us.
