Psalm 46:7
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
Life rushes us along—our thoughts scattered, our hearts burdened, our spirits unsettled by the world’s pace. In those moments, it is easy to forget that God is near. Yet Psalm 46:7 gently reminds us that these words are not distant poetry; they are a living promise.
Psalm 46 describes nations in uproar and kingdoms tottering, yet amid the chaos, the Lord stands unshaken and faithful. His presence is not occasional or conditional—it is constant, steady, and strong. Just one word from Him can quiet storms and bring peace that surpasses understanding. The river that gladdens the city of God symbolizes His life-giving presence flowing into the hearts of His people.
When trouble comes, do we run to fading comforts or to the refuge of His presence? Choosing Him means finding strength that does not collapse under pressure, hope that does not dim in darkness, and love that does not fail when everything else does.
Like a builder laying a foundation, we must let this truth sink deep into our hearts: God is with us. His nearness is the anchor of our lives. When we feel overlooked or weary, remember that He is near and He is our refuge. Today, rest in this promise: the Lord of hosts is with you, and the God of Jacob is your refuge.
Let your time alone with Jesus become your place of refuge. Let extended time in His presence be the safe place where you process life’s cares and receive healing and strength for your soul. When your world feels like it is falling apart, run into the loving arms of Jesus.
