Proverbs 29:25
“The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.”
Today’s scripture:
Cautions us not to fear man or his power; it brings a snare, that is, exposes men to many ill attitudes or dire circumstances.
And
Encourage us to trust God and depend upon His power, which would keep us from all that fear of man does and which does not harm us in any way. Therefore, holy confidence in God makes a man dwell in safety.
We can learn about it from the life of Abraham. Abraham, his wife Sarah, and Lot had to take shelter in Egypt due to famine in the land of Cannan (Genesis 12). Upon entering Egypt Abraham felt that he would not be safe as Sarah was beautiful and to get her Egyptians would kill Abraham her husband. So, fearing what the king of Egypt would do Abraham lied that Sarah was his sister and not a wife. He gave into selfishness and other negative emotions. Hence, he was ensnared by fear and selfishness.
In Genesis 13 there is a scenario where Lot’s men and Abraham’s men fought upon grazing land and water source. So, Abraham decides to separate from Lot, and this time he acts just, unselfish and courteous towards Lot. Why??? Because he “Trusted in God”.
As he trusted God, he could receive the promises of God for the generations to come. Our God is a strong and mighty tower, if we take refuge in Him, we are safe. Jeremiah 17:7-8 says “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.“
Let us therefore always trust and fear God and not man.
Blessed Day Ahead.
