Son of the Highest

Luke 1:32-33
He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.

The above scripture states God’s promise to David regarding his generations to come (2 Samuel 7:16–17). The King from the future generations of David’s family would provide ultimate, eternal victory for Israel (Isaiah 9:6–7). Our God is faithful. He is a promise keeper.

Here in this scripture, we get a glimpse of who our savior is. As we all know Mary will have visitation from angel Gabriel. He brings the news that she would bear and give birth to the Son of God. He will be great, and He will be called the Son of the Highest. Both these qualities are divine.

He will be great: Gabriel proclaims that Mary will witness the one who will as a person be of virtue. He will be great in His attitude, character, and commitment to His mission. His name, Jesus, will be higher than any other name. He will indeed be a model to be followed for a Godly life. He was in the world but not of the world. He will be 100% human.

He will be called Son of the Highest: Here, the Highest refers to God (JEHOVAH). This phrase is an important part of Gabriel’s message. Hebrew used the concept of a “son” to imply someone who had all the qualities of the father. Jesus, as the Son of the Most High God, will have all divine qualities. So He was 100% God.

In short, Gabriel is telling Mary she will give birth to God incarnate, the Savior promised by prophecy.  Do you know him?

If you do,
then praises rise for who He is and what He has done.

If you don’t,

He is the one who understands you like no other; Your pain, struggle, challenges, sorrows, victory, etc. He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us.

He is the savior of the world, who came down to redeem us. He is worthy to be praised. He is the prince of Peace, a Mighty and Anointed one for whom all things are possible. He is the reason for this season. Let us call upon His name and be saved. His kingdom has no end.

Blessed Day ahead.
