Psalm 42:11
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.
How is the health of your soul today? How often do you speak to your soul? Your soul is your inner man, the part of you that has emotions, thoughts, intellect and a will. Often, our intellect influences our thoughts. This has a direct impact on our emotions, then reflecting in our actions. Which is why many times, physical ailments are just an outward sign of something that is affecting you deep within.
The fact that David communed with his soul shows us that we can do the same. βThe power of life and death are in the tongue,β says Proverbs 18:21. Just as our words can either strengthen someone or condemn and break them, our words can do the same to us. When we speak into our soul, we are prophesying the WORD OF GOD into our very being. The WORD OF GOD is life-giving, it is not just letters strung together. The WORD OF GOD is the very essence of His being put out in script. Speaking this very script gives it permissible access into our own beings. In this way, we let the WORD OF GOD supersede our knowledge, feelings and desires.
Beloved, you donβt need to speak to your soul only when it is depressed. You need to speak to your soul because that is YOUR TRUE SELF. If you want to see the glory of God manifest in your physical body, begin by declaring His promises into your soul. Feed your soul, let it indulge in the Word until the Word becomes a part of your very flesh. May Christ Himself be revealed and reflected in your life as you practice this!
