Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29 (KJV)

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Getaway with me, and you’ll recover your life. Matthew 11:29a (MSG)

Tiredness, emotional heartaches, draining of energy, and exhaustion come with a multilayered intersection of being human. At times we are overwhelmed by it because our burdens are not simple, and at times, the remedy for them is a good rest to the body. There is more profound tiredness that goes beyond physical, mental, or emotional tiredness – it’s the spiritual tiredness. It’s experienced when one feels lost even when they know they are saved, doubting even when they believe, feeling lost despite knowing Jesus Christ as the Lord. Difficulties, despair, and crisis may sometimes lead us to wrestle with God.

The life of our Lord Jesus Christ on earth was not easy – He was constantly on the move surrounded by multitudes of people always in need, He faced death threats, and finally was betrayed by His friends. Yet He was not tired or worn out. How come? Well, Our Lord often spent time praying, and through that, He received the strength and rest.

Are we weary? Let us go to Jesus Christ and let Him give us His rest. His rest will restore our soul since nothing, and no one can restore us. (Matthew 11:28)

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for Your promise of peace and rest even in our troubled times.
