1 John 2:29
“If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.”
In a world filled with corruption and deceit, it can be tempting to follow the crowd and choose sin or dishonesty, especially when it seems to come with no consequences. However, as children of God, we are called to live righteously, reflecting Christ who lives in us. Here are four ways to stay faithful to God’s call:
1. Believe that God is with us
Whenever faced with temptation, we should remind ourselves that God is always with us. His presence is constant, watching over us (Psalm 139:7-10). Since we know that God sees everything, it should motivate us to stay on the right path and make choices that honor Him.
2. The Holy Spirit is our Helper
The Holy Spirit is sent to guide and strengthen us in times of temptation. As Jesus promised in John 14:26, the Holy Spirit will teach us and bring God’s Word to mind. When we call on Him, He empowers us to resist sin and walk in God’s will.
3. Hell is real
God sent Jesus to die for our sins because He desires that no one should perish (2 Peter 3:9). Hell is a real and terrifying place, described in the Bible as eternal separation from God (Matthew 25:41, Revelation 20:15). This harsh reality reminds us of the importance of living with Christ.
4. Heaven is our reward
Jesus promises that He is preparing a place for us in His Father’s house (John 14:2), so heaven is the eternal home of those who believe in Jesus. Salvation assures us of the joy and peace of being with God forever (Romans 6:23, Revelation 21:4).
By focusing on God’s presence, the Holy Spirit’s help, the reality of hell, and the hope of heaven, we can choose righteousness in the face of temptation. These truths remind us to live lives worthy of our calling (Ephesians 4:1).
