Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,

The Titanic was the largest and most luxurious passenger ship of its time and was reported to be unsinkable. However, It sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on the 15th of April, 1912. Striking an iceberg during its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, United States.

The Titanic was underwater, taking the lives of many along with it. The travellers on this once monumental vessel now found themselves as survivors putting their trust in tiny lifeboats.

Have you ever felt like you were drowning? Failing to overcome temptations? Or the heat of a deadline at work? Or a situation that looks impossible? It doesn’t matter what kind of difficulty we face. We have Saving Grace. We will come out victorious.

In the verse before and after this Scripture we see God making two emphatic statements. The first statement in Isaiah 43:1 He says, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you;I have called you by your name; You are Mine.” The second statement in Isaiah 43:3 He says, ” For I am the Lord your God,The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;”

How amazing! We don’t need to fear. We are redeemed by God. Bought with the Blood of Jesus. He has called us by name. We belong to Him. We are His! He then goes a step further and assures us with one of the most exhilarating promises. He says that ‘He’ is the Lord our God, the Holy One of Israel is our ‘Savior’. He is ours!

We don’t just have a lifeboat at our disposal. We know the One who calms the waters with His word. He says ‘Peace, be still’ and it is! The captain of the Host is Jesus. As long as we are following Him we have nothing to fear. No water or fire. El Shaddai – Almighty God is with us!
